Steve is responsible for ensuring that AustralianSuper both understands, and effectively manages, its key risks so that member outcomes are not compromised. In this role he works with all Group Executives to ensure the appropriate capability, resources and expertise are in place across all three lines of defence.
He is responsible for the creation and improvement of the risk management framework and all its supporting elements. In particular Steve focuses on ensuring alignment between AustralianSuper’s strategy and its appetite for risk. As the leader of the 2nd line of defence Steve’s role is to provide effective challenge and risk insight into all key decisions.
Prior to joining AustralianSuper, Peter held a number of senior risk and operational roles with the National Australia Bank, including time with their New Zealand subsidiary Bank of New Zealand.
In addition to his career in financial services Steve has held numerous roles in pulp & paper manufacture in both Australia and New Zealand.
