Speakers

Jenni Baxter, Partner Actuarial, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu

Jenni is a partner in Deloitte’s Sydney office in the Actuarial Consulting practice. Jenni joined Deloitte in 2021 following the acquisition of Rice Warner, where she had been since 2014. Jenni has over 20 years’ experience within the insurance industry across both the UK and Australian markets.

Starting her career in the UK heading up pricing and valuation teams at Commercial Union and Legal & General, Jenni relocated to Australia and moved into a senior pricing role at MLC in 2007. During her time at MLC she developed key experience and knowledge across the Retail, Direct and Bancassurance businesses. 

Jenni has specialised technical skills across the Group Insurance industry through activities including leading the inaugural Group Experience Claims Study, assisting Superannuation Funds with their insurance services and providing independent advice to Trustee Boards and Insurance Committees.  

Jenni is passionate about developing high performing teams together with ensuring that work produced by the team is of the highest quality and meets individual client needs. 

Jenni is a Fellow of the Actuaries Institute in Australia (previously a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in the UK) and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.  


Michael Lin, Head of Product & Pricing – Major Account, TAL

Michael is an actuary who currently heads up the Product and Pricing function servicing one of TAL’s major superannuation fund partners. Michael has more than 10 years of pricing and portfolio management experience in the Australian superannuation and insurance industry. Prior to joining TAL, he was a pricing and portfolio management specialist working at MLC in the Investment Platforms and Group Insurance business. Michael is also a long-standing member of the Insurance in Super Working Group within the Actuaries Institute.


Adrian Rees, General Manager, Superannuation — Superannuation Branch 1, APRA

Adrian joined APRA in 2004 and has supervised a wide range of banks, insurers and superannuation funds.

Presently Adrian supervises superannuation trustees and funds.  Adrian also is a member of APRA’s Superannuation Industry Group which monitors developments in the superannuation industry and helps develop APRA’s supervisory and policy responses to these issues.  He works closely with APRA’s insurance team on insurance in superannuation matters.

Adrian also has worked in the private sector in funds management, retirement products and life and general insurance.  In total he has over 40 years of industry experience.

Richard Land, Head of Insurance Product and Pricing, AustralianSuper

Richard Land is Head of Insurance Product & Pricing at AustralianSuper, responsible for the Fund’s insurance offering. Prior to joining AustralianSuper he was Insurance Segment Leader at Mercer, providing insurance and investment consulting services.

Richard has recently volunteered on AIST working groups, on the Actuaries Institute’s Life Insurance and Wealth Management Practice Committee and as tutor for the Actuaries Institute’s Life Insurance course.
