Speakers

Shane Fielding, Head of Insurance, Hostplus

Shane is the Head of Insurance at Hostplus where he is responsible for the overall management of the funds insurance arrangements, including policy, pricing, product and service development.

He has worked in the group insurance industry for over 30 years, with significant experience across Industry Super Funds, Retail Master Trusts and Employee Benefits.

Prior to joining Hostplus, Shane was the Head of Group Life Consulting Services at IFS Insurance Solutions where he was responsible for the delivery of a range of insurance services and advice to industry super funds, associated entities and the broader industry super network.

Shane was previously an Insurance Consultant at Mercer and held various roles at AXA over 16 years.

Shane holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from Monash University.


Simonie Fox, Head of Shared Value Partnerships, AIA Australia

Simonie has a background in oncology nursing and occupational rehabilitation and has over 20 years’ experience working in the insurance industry in both workers compensation and life insurance. She joined AIA 6 years ago. Simonie has a strategic role and is responsible for the life insurance wellbeing customer value proposition as well as the shared value proposition. She is passionate about supporting customers with cancer and chronic pain. Simonie currently represents the Financial Services Council on the HBGW Signatory Steering Group and chairs the Communication Subcommittee.


Margo Lydon, Chief Executive Officer, SuperFriend

Margo has been working in mental health and suicide prevention for 20 years and has been CEO of SuperFriend for 10 years. She has extensive experience in leadership, business growth and strategic partnerships and systems change.

Margo holds a Master of Science, Positive Organization Development and Change and a Bachelor of Business Degree.

Margo represents SuperFriend on a number of nationally recognised strategic alliances including: The Mentally Healthy Workplace Alliance, Victorian Workplace Mental Wellbeing Collaboration, LeadingWell Queensland Collaboration, and Roses in the Ocean’s Sector Advisory.

Through Margo’s involvement and influence in the Mentally Healthy Workplace Alliance, she also Chairs the Stakeholder and Communications working group of the National Workplace Initiative – an $11.5 million investment over four years from the Commonwealth’s Department of Health to create a nationally consistent approach to workplace mental health.

Margo is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Beta Gamma Sigma. Margo was a finalist in the 2019 Telstra Business Women’s Awards (Victoria) in the “For Purpose and Social Enterprise” category.

Sharon McEwen, Manager, Insurance Claims and Underwriting, BUSSQ Building Super

Sharon is the Insurance Manager at BUSSQ, where she manages the Underwriting and Claims Team. Her responsibilities include managing the day to day activities of the Insurance Team, the management and implementation of projects relating to insurance, such as the Voluntary Code of Practice, and liaison between the fund, Insurer and the members.

Sharon has worked in the Superannuation industry for over 18 years between Australia and New Zealand and has held various roles across the industry, with an extensive range of skillsets particularly managing teams in Superannuation, Insurance Claims and Underwriting.  

Since her time at BUSSQ, where she has been for Five years, she has been instrumental in taking the various facets of the Insurance department to deliver a more automated process with beneficial results
