Our economies and societies are deeply embedded in nature. For the third year in a row, the World Economic Forum has identified biodiversity loss as one of the top five most severe risks facing the world over the next decade. Investors have a critical role to play in halting and reversing biodiversity loss through stewardship, capital allocation and advocacy. The Biodiversity COP15 took place in December 2022 and culminated in the Kunming-Montreal Global

Biodiversity Framework being agreed. This webinar will focus on the importance of biodiversity for investors, the implications of COP15 and how the sector can have a meaningful impact on nature, especially through stewardship and engagement.

Sonya Likhtman, Engagement, EOS, Federated Hermes

Sonya Likhtman works in EOS, the stewardship and engagement team at Federated Hermes. She focusses primarily on engaging with companies across Asia and emerging markets. She is also the lead engager for the Biodiversity Equity Fund and the author of a white paper called Our Commitment to Nature. She is currently co-chair of both the Engagement and Public Policy Advocacy working groups within the Finance for Biodiversity Foundation. Previously, Sonya worked as a sustainability consultant in London and Barcelona. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from the University of Cambridge and was a Herchel Smith Scholar at Harvard University, where she worked on the ethics of climate change and related public policy matters. In 2022, Sonya was awarded the Rising Star Award from the International Corporate Governance Network.

Holly Lindsay, Senior Manager, Governance, AIST

Holly has over 20 years of experience working on governance and sustainability-related issues in the superannuation and corporate sectors. Holly currently runs the secretariat for AIST’s Governance Code Monitoring Panel and facilitates AIST’s trustee director courses. She is a director of Transparency International Australia, a member of AVI’s board governance committee and a governor of WWF Australia, a leading conservation organization.
