Dr. Bronwyn King AO, Chief Executive Officer, Tobacco Free Portfolios

Dr Bronwyn King AO is a social entrepreneur, movement maker, company director, medical specialist and humanitarian on a mission to inspire and transform organisations into purpose driven, sustainable businesses. Alongside an accomplished team of medical doctors, ethics experts and sustainable finance professionals, her engagement across the global corporate, finance, health and diplomatic sectors led to the launch of the Tobacco-Free Finance Pledge at United Nations’ Headquarters in 2018. This initiative - backed by President Macron and former Australian Prime Minister Turnbull - now has 143 Signatories with combined AUM of US$10.9 trillion.  

Dr King’s 2017 TEDx Sydney talk has been viewed more than 3 million times. In 2019 Dr King was awarded an Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to community health. She is the reigning Melburnian of the Year (during a pandemic!)


Sheela Veerappan, Relationship Manager, Australasia, UNPRI

Sheela is the relationship manager for Australasia at the Principles of Responsible Investment (PRI) – an investor led organisation that has over 3,000 signatories who jointly manage $144 trillion in assets globally. She has been working with signatories to elevate sustainability and ESG issues in their investment processes and decision making and shifting their efforts to invest in a long-term sustainable manner.

Sheela has over 15 years of investment consulting experience in manager research in both Australia and Asia with technical expertise in ESG risks and responsible investment. She has consulted to leading Asian and Australian asset owners on manager selection and monitoring and portfolio construction.

Dr. Rosemary Kelly, Trustee Director, Aware Super

Rosemary chairs Aware Super’s Investment Committee. She was nominated to the Board by the Health Services Union. She is Assistant Secretary of the Medical Scientists Association of Victorian and Secretary of the Victorian Psychologists Association.

Aware Super has circa $A125 billion in FUM and over 1 million members, who work mainly in health, education and public administration in NSW and Victoria.

Aware Super is mindful of the impact its investments make in communities and on the environment. The Board has adopted a Climate Change Portfolio Transition Plan, to actively manage climate risk and to capture emerging opportunities in a decarbonising economy. The Fund will divest from thermal coal assets by October 2020 and will reduce portfolio emissions across listed assets to 30% below benchmark by 2023, and 45% by 2030.

Rosemary holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Master of Public Policy and a Doctorate in Education.
