Steve Freeborn, Partner, Deloitte

Steve has over 25 years’ experience in the financial services industry across all parts of the value chain.  He has held senior positions with BT Financial Group, Perpetual and Rice Warner.

After initially being trained as an actuarial consultant, Steve spent over 12 years in wealth management businesses in various management roles.

He has a high level of market knowledge together with a deep technical knowledge of the superannuation, insurance and investment industries. His experience in business acquisitions provides deep insight into the various business drivers and identification of where and how synergies are realised.

Steve has a strong reputation as a trusted and reliable adviser. He has been recognised for his leadership capabilities and has experience leading teams to execute and implement mergers and acquisitions.


Sinclair Scholfield, Senior Vice President, Head of Platform Solutions, Asia Pacific, State Street

Sinclair is Head of Platform Solutions for the Asia Pacific region. Sinclair has responsibility for the identification of business solutions for existing and prospective clients that incorporate a combination of front, middle and back office services, and for driving awareness and understanding of State Street’s front-to-back narrative in the marketplace and for our clients.

Between late 2011 and 2018, Sinclair held roles as Head of Sector Solutions Australia, responsible for defining and driving our sales strategy and execution, Head of Consultant Relations for Asia Pacific, Head of Securities Finance, Australia and New Zealand and was the Securities Finance APAC Chief Operating Officer for Global Markets. He was Asset Liability Manager for Securities Finance in EMEA and APAC, based in London from 2007-2011. Sinclair joined State Street in Boston in 2003 and held roles in Wealth Manager Services in the United States and United Kingdom. Prior to State Street, Sinclair was Director of Product Design at Omgeo, and a Manager in Accenture’s Capital Markets group.

Sinclair received a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) degree from the University of Sydney, a Masters of Applied Finance and Investment from FINSIA (the Financial Services Institute of Australia). He is a Fellow of FINSIA, and has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.


Leeanne Turner, Chief Executive Officer, Spirit Super

Leeanne Turner is the CEO of Spirit Super. She has over 35 years of experience in the superannuation industry. 

Leeanne started her superannuation career in administration roles at ComSuper before venturing into Secretariat roles with the then CSS, PSS and Military Super Boards. She spent several years at the Department of Defence developing superannuation policy for military schemes before joining AvSuper in 2001. In 2004 Leeanne was appointed as the CEO of AvSuper.

In 2007, Leeanne moved to gain knowledge of industry funds by accepting the role of Deputy CEO at MTAA Super. In 2011 she was appointed CEO and led a dramatic transformation of the fund’s governance, reporting and investment capabilities. 

In 2014, Leeanne was awarded Fund Executive of the Year by FEAL. By 2018-19, MTAA Super was ranked Australia's 10th best performing super fund.

Following MTAA Super’s merger with Tasplan in 2021, Leeanne became the inaugural CEO of Australia’s newest industry super fund, Spirit Super. Spirt Super has more than $23 billion in funds under management and over 326,000 members throughout Australia.
