Phil Ruthven founded the Ruthven Institute in 2017 to help business managers and students to better understand the keys to success and provide the vital information needed to achieve forward planning, effective business strategy and consistent world’s best practice profitability.
Phil Ruthven is the founder and owner of IBISWorld, an international corporation providing online business information, forecasting and strategic services. He is also a director of other companies, advisory boards and charitable organisations.
Phil is a science graduate, with further studies in management and economics at various universities and institutes. He spent over 10 years in the food industry, including executive positions in research, production and marketing, before establishing IBIS in 1971. He is currently a board member of the Australian National University Business College Advisory Board, an Adjunct Professor at The University of Technology Sydney and an ambassador for the Whitelion disadvantaged youth charity.
Phil is widely considered the nation’s most respected strategist and futurist on business, social and economic matters. As one of Australia’s most frequent and prolific commentators in demand by the media, he contributes regularly to radio, TV, newspapers, magazines and documentaries on business, economic and social issues. He also addresses around 50-60 congresses, seminars and conferences each year, having done so for over four decades. He was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia in 2014 for his services to business and the community.
