Dr John Flackett, Head & Co-founder, AiLab

Dr. John Flackett is a renowned Artificial Intelligence international speaker. Passionate about AI and a leader in his field, John presents key insights on AI and emerging technology’s future impact on society and the workforce at events and workshops around the world. With over 20 years of AI experience, a PhD in Artificial Intelligence and contributions in education, industry and community, John is among an elite group of experts regularly called upon to share his perspectives via talks, media interviews, publications and roundtables.

Previously a senior university academic teaching AI and Software Engineering in the UK, John's also worked in a wide range of industries and sectors. Since migrating to Australia, John has co-founded two businesses; the smart web specialist company koolth, and AiLab; a global company providing professional education for people to learn about the complex field of Artificial Intelligence. John is also co-founder of Adelaide AI meetup event series – which is the largest AI networking community in South Australia.

John's received various awards, including from the British Computer Society, and his academic and business career featured in the UK's 2019 Million Plus campaign that launched at the Palace of Westminster. In April 2020, John will also be taking on a year-long role of AI Specialist in Residence and AI Ambassador for Auckland University of Technology, whilst also setting up a new AiLab in the university.

Jeff Wallens, Education & Training Consultant, AIST

Jeff commenced working with AIST as a Training Consultant in January 2019. He brings 20 years of financial services and superannuation experience to AIST, in roles ranging from customer service, member education, employer account management, and corporate super planning and advice.

Jeff currently holds a Diploma of Financial Planning.

His previous employers include Telstra Super, NAB Financial Planning, AON, Aviva and Health Super.
