Brendan Daly, Group Executive Product and Operations, Rest

Brendan joined Rest in April 2019 and is responsible for the development of member-focused products and best-practice operations that deliver outstanding service to members and employers. His responsibilities encompass the design and delivery of product, technical, insurance and administration services to members and employers.

Brendan has extensive experience in the financial services industry having previously worked in the financial services and wealth management industry at consultancy firm Wipro. He has also previously served as Head of Product and Operations in NAB Wealth’s Corporate and Institutional Wealth division, as well as a variety of superannuation administration roles at Colonial First State. He was a trustee director of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s Officers’ Superannuation Fund from November 2007 to April 2008.


Stephanie Ballie, Senior Manager Insurance Products, QSuper

Stephanie joined QSuper in 2015 and leads the development and management of the fund’s member centric insurance products and services. She is responsible for the design and delivery of products including pricing and performance governance. Steph and her team also provide insurance advice and expertise to the QSuper Board, employers and unions.  

Prior to moving to Australia, Steph spent over 20 years in leadership roles in the UK life insurance industry including Employee Benefits Director at MetLife UK and Head of Group Insurance at Friends Life.   


Damien Mu, CEO and Director , AIA Australia and New Zealand

Damien Mu is the CEO and Director of AIA Australia and New Zealand. Damien’s career at AIA Australia began in 2007, and he was appointed to the role of CEO in 2014. Damien has more than 20 years’ experience in the Australian financial services industry, with management experience spanning life and health insurance, superannuation and investments.

AIA Australia is a founding member of the Shared Value Project. In 2019, AIA entered into a Joint Cooperation Agreement with CBA for the purchase of CommInsure Life.

In 2018, Damien was awarded the Shared Value Champion and the AB+F Australian Insurance Executive of the Year. He holds a number of directorships including the Financial Services Council (FSC), co-Chair of the FSC Life Board Committee and an Advisory Board member of the Shared Value Project.

David Haynes, Senior Policy Manager, AIST

As AIST’s Senior Policy Manager, David has spent the last 10 years working closely with Parliament, Government, Treasury, all regulators and other key stakeholders in developing and implementing all aspects of superannuation policy, including all regulatory changes and major projects such as the Financial Services Royal Commission, default fund selection, and the Insurance in Super Code

David has 30 years’ experience in the industry including time as the CEO of Industry Fund Services and AUSfund, an executive at Members Equity, as an account manager for a major adminstrator, and as a trustee of superannuation funds.

David holds a parallel role as Executive Superannuation Policy Advisor at IQ Group.  He has also been a director of numerous private and public sector board.
