Joseph Hoffman, Chief Executive Officer, Mesirow (US)

Joseph Hoffman, CFA, is chief executive officer in Mesirow Currency Management. Joseph leads the team to match investment trends with customized solutions to meet clients’ needs. Under Joseph’s leadership, assets under management have grown from $77 billion in August 2017 to $124.9 billion in June 2021. He led the acquisition of The Cambridge Strategy, a UK-based currency alpha investment firm in October 2018, and developed Fiduciary FX, an agency and fiduciary program for trading currencies for institutional investors.

Prior to joining Mesirow, Joseph worked at Russell Investments where he spent 20 years focused on currency and derivatives. He co-founded Russell Investment’s Currency Implementation business and managed over $60 billion in currency assets. 

Joe earned a Bachelor of Science from Central Washington University and a Master of Science in finance from Seattle University. He holds the FINRA Series 7, 24, 63 and 65 licenses, and is a member of the CFA Society of Seattle and the Seattle Securities Traders Association.

Stuart Simmons CFA, Director, Head of Currency, QIC

Stuart is responsible for QIC’s currency overlay mandates as well as leading and undertaking ongoing thought leadership and research on currency markets.

Stuart is a member of the RBA’S Australian Foreign Exchange Committee and has been Australia’s private sector representative to the Global Foreign Exchange Committee since 2019.

Prior to joining QIC, Stuart held positions including Director, ANZ (Europe), Managing Director, Principal Global Investors (Europe) and Vice President, BT Funds Management.

Stuart holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia (now FINSIA) and is a CFA Charterholder.

Catherine Rich, Executive Director, Goldman Sachs

Catherine Rich works within the Fixed Income, Currency and Commodity team (FICC) team, based in Sydney.

In her current role, Cath is responsible for the Foreign Exchange sales business and serves a diverse client base of domestic and international asset managers, superannuation funds, corporations and commercial banks. 

Cath joined Goldman Sachs in Sydney in 2013 from Deutsche Bank where she worked across FX sales in Sydney and Singapore.

Cath began her career as a graduate at Commonwealth Bank of Australia and has also lived and worked in London & New York
