Stuart Bain, Investment Operations Manager, Accident Compensation Corporation (NZ)

Stuart Bain is the Investment Operations Manager for the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) in New Zealand. Stuart has 25 years’ experience in investment management and custody operations and has worked for various firms across both New Zealand and Australia. Stuarts primary responsibility at ACC is for the oversight of the custody operations, financial and fund accounting teams. Prior to ACC Stuart headed up the NZX ETF business, was the Operations Manager with Russell Investment Management and, prior to that Aberdeen Asset Management.

The Accident Compensation Corporation provides comprehensive, no-fault personal injury cover for all New Zealand residents and visitors to New Zealand.  ACC invests funds to meet the future costs of injuries and rehabilitation that have already occurred, without the need for New Zealanders to pay more levies for these claims in the future.  We favour long-term investments that can deliver relatively certain income streams over long periods of time.  These investments match our long-term cash flow requirements. The AUM for ACC currently stand at around NZ$46bn with $36bn managed internally and $10bn managed externally.
