The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) should be named in the Explanatory Statement for the proposed Security of Critical Infrastructure (Application) Rules 2021 as the relevant Commonwealth body for reporting cyber incidents relating to critical superannuation assets.

The submission reiterates policy recommendations made in recent years that remain unaddressed, and makes proposals directly related to the recent implementation of the Your Future, Your Super measures plus the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 Early Release of super scheme.
AIST supports the level of involvement that ASIC has with industry, however we believe that ASIC’s effectiveness and capability could be improved.
AIST broadly supports the proposals put forward by ASIC, including adopting a common framework for setting some assumptions, making a single legislative instrument that covers retirement estimates and calculators, and allowing trustees to provide retirement estimates through an online portal.

This submission relates solely to Chapter 17 of the Bill (Retirement income covenant). AIST supports the principles-based covenant and calls for the speedy passage of the Bill, amended so that publication of retirement income strategies become mandatory for super funds on 1 July 2023 (in place of the ambiguous requirements for partial implementation on 1 July 2022).
