Superannuation in the spotlight as industry experts meet in Melbourne
Experts from around Australia and the world will be addressing the most pressing issues in superannuation as the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (AIST) holds its Conference of Major Superannuation Funds over the next three days.
AIST, the peak body for the $1.7 trillion profit-to-member super sector, is holding the conference from today until Wednesday.
More than 30 industry experts will present at 16 sessions at CENTREPIECE, Melbourne including:
- Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers*
- Minister for Cyber Security Claire O’Neil*
- Noel Pearson, Founder, Cape York Partnership and Good to Great Schools, who will talk about the Indigenous Voice and closing the Indigenous super gap
- Dylan Alcott OAM, athlete and disability advocate, who is speaking on diversity and inclusion in profit the -to-member super, and
- Manal Al-Sharif, cyber expert and top 50 Women in tech recipient, delivering this year’s Mavis Robertson address about the impact of mercenary spyware on privacy rights.
Representatives of the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, The Australian Securities and Investments Commission and Australian Taxation Office will be part of panel discussions on emerging risk and focus areas, while navigating the geopolitical landscape will be the focus of a speech by Dr Keith Suter, Managing Director, Global Directions.
CEO Eva Scheerlinck said CMSF would bring together industry experts to speak about important issues including the geopolitical landscape, climate change, mercenary spyware, data security, retirement, cognitive decline, marketing to members, diversity and more.
“We’re excited to be holding our flagship conference and look forward to welcoming hundreds of delegates, including trustee directors and senior fund staff, regulators and industry partners’,” Ms Scheerlinck said. “Super continues to be a hot topic on the national agenda this year with the Federal Government making crucial announcements that affect our retirement system so we’re expecting a lot of interest in what our presenters have to say.”
