RG 146 Foundations of Super

This course is ideal for both industry newcomers who need a thorough introduction to super, and anyone who needs a broad overview of the industry, including trustee directors. It is designed for those who need to be RG 146-compliant and may be giving general financial product advice.

The course meets all the generic and specialist knowledge requirements specified by ASIC in Regulatory Guide (RG)146, and explores the history, rules and regulations of superannuation and how it fits into Australia’s economic landscape.

Participants will be given access to the course materials one week ahead of the class and asked to pre-read the modules.

The virtual classroom sessions, via zoom video conference, will be delivered as three-hour sessions over three consecutive half days to address the nine modules.

Students will be required to complete the single online multiple-choice assessment in their own time.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive 15 CPD and a statement of completion.

The course may also be completed through a self-paced option.

I found the RG 146 course to be insightful and really interesting.  The topics were covered in a well-structured and engaging manner, and as someone not from a financial services background, it really helped me to consolidate a number of key topics.  Would highly recommend for anyone new to super to take this course.

AIST’s RG 146 Foundations of Super course is an excellent overview, especially for those new to the industry. The resources are easy to digest, and the module summary mind maps will be used again and again. The facilitators are knowledgeable and engaging and made sure that participants were across the material before moving on. Would absolutely recommend.

Having only begun my career in Super a year and a half ago I found the RG 146 Foundations course most interesting and helpful in building my knowledge of the category.  It has not only cemented the knowledge I have acquired so far but provided more context around areas I have not necessarily been across in my day to day role. No matter what your role, this course is a must do especially for newcomers to the industry.

At Spirit Super, we have used AIST’s services for the delivery of the RG 146 Foundations course on 8 occasions leading into and since our April 1, 2021 merger. We see this course as an important component to our 8-week induction training, as it provides our new recruits with a great foundation learning to the Superannuation industry, from the regulatory framework to the detailed ways in which funds move into and out of superannuation.
