IMPORTANT INFORMATION

A COVID-19 pandemic has been declared by the World Health Organisation. Accordingly, AIST is cancelling CMSF2020, which was scheduled to run over three days in Adelaide from Wednesday 18 March to Friday 20 March.

AIST member funds, industry partners and service providers involved in CMSF are now activating their Pandemic Plans, as is AIST. These plans include restrictions around gatherings of large groups of people and travel.

The health of our delegates, staff and industry partners is our priority and we believe it is in the best interests of all to cancel CMSF in Adelaide next week.

As a not for profit member organisation we do not make this decision lightly and are devastated that we cannot go ahead with CMSF in its current form.  It’s the first time in more than 25 years that CMSF has been cancelled.

Together with our member funds and partners we are exploring options to potentially reschedule the event and are working to provide virtual online alternatives which allow our members and industry partners the opportunity to engage and learn in a different way. For our delegates and industry partners we will be in touch as soon as possible with more details and will publish a FAQ.

Please bear with us as this unprecedented situation unfolds, and AIST considers its options, which may include rescheduling to another date later in the year, delivering conference content electronically, or other alternative learning options. We are working together with our member funds and industry partners to find suitable solutions and we ask that you bear with us while we make these decisions.

Further updates will be posted on the AIST website as they come to hand and we will continue to communicate with you via email wherever needed.

If you need any further information, please contact our team on 03 8677 3800 or info@aist.asn.au

AIST’s leadership has been meeting to discuss the situation at-length, in coordination with our board. The board recognised that understanding of the potential reach of the virus has changed significantly in the last 24 hours, with the World Health Organisation declaring a Pandemic. We made the decision with sufficient time to allow attendees to change their travel plans and before the Government called a stop to gatherings over 500 people. Putting the health crisis above all, and ensuring the safety of all of the people involved with CMSF2020 has been our primary focus.
AIST’s leadership has been meeting to discuss the situation at-length, in coordination with our board. The board recognised that understanding of the potential reach of the virus has changed significantly in the 24 hours leading up to our decision, including the World Health Organisation declaring a Pandemic. This action was further informed by concerns received from CMSF2020 attendees, cancellations of similarly sized conferences globally, as well as a growing volume of confirmed cases of coronavirus throughout the country. In light of these factors, it is clear that it would be an unacceptable risk to bring so many people together in Adelaide next week.
We are looking at different options to replace the March event for attendees. We are still exploring different possibilities and we will keep you informed as the situation evolves.
