Australia takes out bronze in global pension index

Australia has taken out third place in the latest Mercer global pension index, which ranks countries according to factors including the overall level of retirement funds, how they are managed and the integrity of the system.

Our super system rated third out of 18 countries with the relatively high weighting of 70 per cent of growth assets across our funds seeing Australian super funds marked slightly down compared to the top performers from the Netherlands and Denmark, the latter taking out number one position.

The index showed Australia had gained ground from previous years largely from an increase in the level of pension fund assets and a rise in the labour force participation rate amongst those aged 55 to 64 years.  (I have release on this from mercer if you want to link?? Let me know and I will send it to mark)
