Hot Topic
Superannuation is only part of a broader framework that supports
Transition to Retirement (TTR). Your fund needs to understand
how ageing population and other key trends will impact on the
workforce and employers. This session provides valuable insight to
assist superannuation funds to more effectively engage members and
employers.
Overview
A recent government announcement projects Australia's population
will explode by almost two-thirds in the next 40 years.
The growth, however, will be overwhelmingly concentrated in the
older demographic - "posing an economic threat that is as
serious as climate change."
Post GFC, we believe the skill shortage will resurface - with
the balance of power set to shift to employees - as supply of
workers drops below demand.
Over the next year, for example, Australia is expected to pass
peak employment, with more people leaving the workforce than
entering it. If this eventuates, it will transform the Australian
workforce and the concept of retirement.
It will also have major implications for superannuation funds
who wish to provide services that complement employer
initiatives.
Superannuation at the worksite
In a competitive market, employers will expect superannuation
funds to provide programs beyond "retirement seminars" at the
worksite.
A number of organisations are now including a holistic
Transition to Retirement (TTR) approach in their benefits and EB
Agreements, a sign that TTR is moving from a seminar or workshop
into a process "signed-off" by key stakeholders.
Topics
• Key demographic drivers and their impact on
superannuation
• Where TTR fits into the picture
• The changing role of superannuation at the worksite
• Case studies and exemplar programs
• It will also provide a "blueprint" for successful "partnerships"
with employers
