AIST Leader Development Scholarships
Application & Eligibility Criteria
- AIST Member (financial)
- Selected applicants must be employed by, or a director of their
fund at the time the scholarship is used
- Course must be relevant to the individual's role in the
superannuation industry
- Course must be offered by a recognised professional training
provider
- Individual must demonstrate the tangible benefits of the course
to themselves, the fund they represent and the funds
membership
- Individuals must not be a recipient of any AIST scholarship in
the past 2 years
- Applications must be received by the close date. Any late
entries will not be considered
- Scholarships are not open to AIST directors or employees
- These scholarships must be completed within 2 years of being
awarded

Can I only undertake one course with the scholarship
money?
No, you may do a number of courses. AIST will provide a
scholarship up to the value of $10,000AUD.
Can the scholarship money be spent only on course
registration fees?
No, the scholarship money can comprise of registration fees,
travel and accommodation costs to attend courses, and text books or
materials.
Can I only go to AIST courses?
No, you can select any course providing it is approved by AIST
and is relevant to your role and the fund you represent within the
superannuation industry.
Can I attend an interstate or overseas
courses?
Yes, you can attend interstate and overseas courses providing
they are relevant to your role in the superannuation industry. AIST
will provide a scholarship up to the amount of $10,000AUD.
What will the judging panel be looking
for?
The judging panel will be looking for a demonstration of
tangible benefits of the course or courses to you, your fund and
your members.
How do I access the money?
AIST will directly pay registration fees and associated costs
where possible or facilitate reimbursement with proof of
purchase.
What if I don't finish the course?
AIST will require reimbursement of course fees and associated
costs. AIST will review individual cases where extenuating
circumstances apply.
What if I don't pass the course?
Any re-sit costs will be at the expense of the scholarship
holder. AIST will review individual circumstances to determine
whether to seek reimbursement.
Do I have to do anything as a recipient of the
scholarship?
AIST may call upon recipients to provide an account of how this
scholarship has assisted with their role and how continuing
professional development is beneficial. This material may be used
and published by AIST. Scholarship recipients will also be required
to show evidence of course completion.
What if my employment situation changes prior to
undertaking my course or courses?
AIST will review the situation based on any new information.
How long will I have before I need to apply and
complete my development training?
These scholarships must be completed within 2 years of being
awarded
The two successful applicants will be selected on the basis of
their responses on the AIST Leader Development Scholarships
Questionnaire.
A panel of industry professionals will preside over this
process. To assist the panel in the assessment of this application,
please limit your responses to the spaces provided.
