The
Governance Perspective: 2010 and beyond - Luncheon
Melbourne: Tuesday,
23 February 2010
Speakers:
The Hon. Justice Neville Owen, Senior judge of the
Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of Western Australia &
Commissioner of the HIH Royal Commission.
MC: Ian Robertson, Chair AIST
With a new decade upon us and the previous decade exposing some
major issues with the governance of some of the largest global
financial institutions through corporate collapses and the global
financial crisis, what have we learnt? Do we need further
regulation imposed on financial institutions or do we need to take
a long hard look at the motivations and influences that have caused
greed, mismanagement and very poor decision making? The
esteemed Hon. Justice Owen will give his perspective on why some of
these events have occurred and what superannuation funds need to
consider when governing in 2010 and beyond.

Kingsley Jones, Portfolio Manager, Macquarie Funds

MC: Ian Robertson, Chair AIST
As the world enters a new decade, has the time come to re-think
traditional styles of investing and distinguish between academic
theories and practical actions of conventional investment
portfolios? What is the real difference between emerging and
developed markets and what risks do both pose for members? Kingsley
Jones will provide some thought provoking concepts about the way
funds view their investment portfolios, give an overview of global
themes and trends and challenge funds to capitalise on new ideas to
maximise member returns and retirement outcomes. Funds who attend
this lunch will come away with fresh, new and innovative ideas to
look at investing in a new decade.
