Collaborative Conversations (One-Day workshop)
Discussing sensitive issues, managing conflict
This highly interactive and customised one-day workshop equips
participants with a structured approach for understanding and
handling challenging conversations and potential conflicts in a
collaborative manner. Concepts and skills will be related to
the participants' specific workplace challenges throughout the
workshop.
Key Learning Outcomes
This workshop will enable participants to:
- Recognise and address issues before they escalate and drain
vital resources
- Understand what drives human behavior, including what causes
people to become emotional and to act unconstructively
- Identify the 3 fundamental approaches (interests, rights and
power) for resolving conflicts and challenging conversations and
select an appropriate process
- Prepare for collaborative conversations with increased
confidence and the ability to plan targeted strategies
- Engage in conversations that develop and demonstrate a genuine
understanding of the other persons' perspectives and underlying
concerns
- Collaborate with others to work towards maximum value solutions
to address concerns - even when faced with challenging people
- More effectively turn challenging counterparts into joint
problem-solvers - including by knowing when and how to say
sorry
- Where necessary, confidently say "no" to a person's request or
demands in ways that protect and build the relationship
- Communicate skillfully, persuasively and with empathy
Facilitation method:
In keeping with the principles of effective adult education, all
three workshops build and reinforce concepts and skills through a
blend of role plays and case studies, interactive and multimedia
presentations, and group discussions. Participants relate
their new concepts and skills to their workplace challenges, and
write their own action plans for putting new learning into practice
immediately.
Facilitation options:
There are two facilitation options available:
- Book an in-house group training session, with a maximum number
of 16 participants. Price based on a minimum of 12
participants, or
