Certificate of Superannuation Practice and Certificate of Trustee Practice

Certificates are awarded to members upon completion of 30 Accreditation Status Points during a calendar year. These certificates will assist you in moving up AIST's Accreditation Pathway.

 

Eligibility methods

 

Certificate of Superannuation Practice Certificate of Trustee Practice
Who? You are a member who is employed by a not-for-profit superannuation fund. You are a member who is a trustee director of a not-for-profit super fund.
How? You have completed 30 Accreditation Status Points during a calendar year. You have completed 30 Accreditation Status Points during a calendar year.

Affiliate of AIST (AIST(Aff))

For members from broad backgrounds who are committed to furthering their professional knowledge but do not yet meet the criteria for becoming an Associate.

Eligibility methods

 

By recommendation By qualification By equivalency
Who? You are a member who has completed either RG 146 or the Certificate of Foundations in Trustee Governance. You are a member who has completed either RG 146 or the Certificate of Foundations in Trustee Governance and you have three or more years of eligible professional experience in the not-for-profit super industry. You are a member who has completed either RG 146 or the Certificate of Foundations in Trustee Governance and you have three or more years of eligible professional experience in the not-for-profit super industry.
How? You are able to provide two recommendations from current Fellows or Associates of AIST You have completed eligible tertiary qualifications in business or law streams, or you are employed in an eligible academic occupation. You have held an equivalent or more senior level of membership or accreditation with another professional association for three or more years.

Associate of AIST (AAIST)

For professionally experienced members who have consistently demonstrated a commitment to furthering their professional knowledge.

Eligibility methods
Who? You are a member who has completed either RG 146 or the Certificate of Foundations in Trustee Governance and you have three or more years of eligible professional experience in the not-for-profit super industry.
How? You have satisfied the requirements for either the Certificate of Trustee Practice or Certificate of Superannuation Practice for three consecutive years or more.

Fellow of AIST (FAIST)

For members who have not only demonstrated a commitment to increasing their professional knowledge but have also actively worked to further the industry.

Eligibility methods

 

By industry experience By special exemption By educational commitment
Who? You are a member who has completed the Certificate of Foundations in Trustee Governance. You are a member who has completed the Certificate of Foundations in Trustee Governance. You are a member who has completed either the Diploma of Financial Services (Superannuation/Financial Planning) or a Graduate Certificate in Superannuation Management
Eligible experience? You are able to provide two recommendations from current Fellows of AIST. You are able to provide two recommendations from current Fellows of AIST. You have satisfied the requirements for either the Certificate of Trustee Practice or Certificate of Superannuation Practice for eight consecutive years or more.
How? You have five or more years experience as a trustee director, alternate trustee director or senior executive answerable to the board of a not-for-profit super fund. You have ten or more years experience as a director of one or more not-for-profit organisations or publicly listed companies. You have eight or more years of eligible professional experience in the not-for-profit super industry.

 

Fellows may also receive this designation by invitation.

 

Eligibility
You may be eligible if the Board of AIST resolves to invite you to become a Fellow on the grounds of expertise, experience or your contribution to the industry.

 

30 Accreditation Status Points must be recorded per calendar year to maintain your designation.
