CMSF 2012 Overview

pic_FionaWelcome to CMSF 2012: Restructuring for the future, not rebuilding the past

2012 is going to be a year of significant change for the super industry.  After almost three years of debate about the Stronger Super and FOFA reforms, we are now at the business end of the equation.

As the various reforms pass through Parliament and become law, the industry will face the challenge of implementing a raft of changes that touch on almost every aspect of superannuation as we know it.  Many of the old ways of doing things will disappear to be replaced by new procedures and expectations.

In the first six months alone, AIST has calculated there are more than 22 deadlines concerning changes to superannuation contribution regulations, administration requirements, SMSFs and FOFA.  The industry must also prepare for a new regulatory environment under APRA's standard-making powers and the race will be on to have a MySuper-compliant option ready by the 2013 launch date.

Meanwhile, we can expect more global uncertainty and volatility on investment markets.

With so much taking place in such a relatively short time, CMSF 2012 is not to be missed.  This thought-provoking historic conference is also a great opportunity to hear the views of local and international speakers on the next big policy issues, such as post-retirement and longevity risk.

I look forward to seeing you at CMSF 2012
