SuperFriend
SuperFriend is the
Industry Funds Forum Mental Health Foundation. It was established
as a nationwide initiative aimed at improving the mental health and
wellbeing of industry superannuation fund members, employers and
staff. SuperFriend's mission is to reduce the incidence of suicide
and the impact of mental illness on individuals, employers,
workplaces, friends and families.
The participating industry superannuation funds of the Industry
Funds Forum represent half the Australian working population, so
the activities and programs delivered by SuperFriend have
tremendous opportunities to significantly influence workplace
culture and people's perceptions, understanding, knowledge and
behaviours regarding mental health and wellbeing.
The Foundation's role is to collaborate and partner with a range
of organisations, including recognised mental health service
providers, to facilitate the delivery of mental health information,
initiatives, programs and referral pathways to assist industry fund
members.
SuperFriend Training For AIST Members and
Non-Members
SuperFriend facilitates specialist mental health training for
staff from participating industry superannuation funds, group life
insurers and administrators to enable them to confidently "step
into" conversations with members who may be in distress, at risk or
experiencing a mental health issue.
Currently, SuperFriend has two training modules
available through AIST:
SuperFriend has facilitated training of over 700 sector staff in
this very important area, with many organisations in the
superannuation sector recognising that by investing in the skills
and resources of their staff they are investing in their
organisation's future, which ultimately benefits their members.
